Introduction

Yummy is a dual-sided SaaS platform for the restaurant industry, combining a customer-facing app with a full-service admin system. I was responsible for the entire UX process — from Discovery and user research to UI design and system architecture. My role included interviewing restaurant owners and customers, identifying pain points, and translating them into intuitive, data-driven interfaces. I designed the full user experience across the guest app, admin panel, and service tools, ensuring consistency, clarity, and operational efficiency.

Approach

I began with a comprehensive Discovery phase, interviewing restaurant owners, managers, staff, and end users to understand operational bottlenecks and customer decision-making behaviors. Insights from this research shaped the product’s dual structure: a visually immersive experience for food discovery, and a streamlined admin system for real-time menu and order management.

Using a data-driven design approach, I mapped user flows across the full ecosystem — including guest interactions, waitstaff operations, and kitchen coordination. I then designed a cohesive interface system that allowed for easy menu personalization, dynamic pricing, multilingual support, and consistent brand presence. The result was an integrated, modular experience optimized for both customer engagement and restaurant efficiency.

Challenge

Traditional restaurant workflows often rely on outdated tools: printed menus, fragmented communication, and rigid POS systems. These limitations result in longer wait times, miscommunication, and poor menu visibility — especially in fast-paced or high-turnover environments. At the same time, customers increasingly expect fast, visual, and mobile-first experiences when choosing where and what to eat.


The challenge was to design a platform that simultaneously improves front-of-house service, streamlines restaurant operations, and creates a delightful, image-driven discovery experience for guests — all while being easy to adopt and customize.
